The annual Lt. Andy Fredericks Seminar was held today at the Westchester Marriott Hotel, with about 350 firefighters from the local area, as well as New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Virginia in attendance.
The attendees heard Battalion Chief Jerry Tracy, a 30 year veteran of the FDNY, speak about Private Dwelling Fires, as well as a number of other fire-related subjects.
He began his presentation by relating how, as the first Captain of Squad Company 18, when the company was founded in 1998, he personally recruited Andy Fredericks to be an original member of the company, because he thought so highly of Andy's ability as a firefighter.
He then went on, in very animated fashion, to hold the interest of the audience for his entire 3-hour presentation.
Attendees were also given an opportunity to visit 25 different exhibitors, checking out the newest technology in firefighting and EMS equipment.
