Building evacuated due to hazardous conditions

A full assignment was dispatched to 172 Saw Mill River Road for an activated general fire alarm.

Upon arrival, units found the sprinkler system activated on the top floor with significant water damage and electrical hazards on the floors below, as a result.

The building was evacuated and the following agencies were notified to respond:  Con Edison gas and electric,  the Greenburgh Fire Marshall and the Greenburgh Building Dept.

All power and gas was shutdown to the entire building as a precaution.

Approximately 32 residents were relocated to the Greenburgh Multi-Purpose Facility in Ardsley by the Red Cross, with the assistance Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner and Elmsford Mayor Robert Williams.

All units returned to service at 2045 hours.
